Yor high-capacity portable power station needs some serious power for charging, get it with the Flexopower Kalahari 400W Hi-Volt Teflon Foldable Solar Panel
As the demand for more power output continues to surge, the conventional 12V solar panel systems can find themselves out classed. Flexopower are proud to introduce their innovative new Hi-Volt system, operating at a nominal 24V. With higher watt ratings and increased voltage, the Hi-Volt system significantly reduces current in cables, resulting in a more stable and efficient power system.
The Flexopower Hi-Volt system is perfect for all portable power stations where the solar input is capped at 10A as well for many MPPT camping systems such as the Victron Smart MPPT for a powerful solar charge. It also allows for extension cable lengths to increase to up to 25m. Please note, though, that the Hi-Volt panels are not suitable for PWM charge controllers.
In addition to the Hi-Volt system, the Flexopower Kalahari 400W is also equipped with Flexopower’s highly efficient Mono PERC solar cells in a shingled arrangement to reduce space between cells for more power per square meter and a more compact panel. The cells are connected in groups and configured in parallel to reduce losses from partial shading compared to panels with series wired cells. These cells are encapsulated in Teflon (ETFE) – the best encapsulation for portable solar panels. The panel’s aluminium frame ensures robust stability to minimize long term solar cell cracking and collapsible supporting legs angle the panel at 45 degrees for better solar harvesting.
Features
- Hi-Volt means Vmp of 36.5V rated at 400W. The majority of portable power stations are limited to max. 10A solar input. Conventional 12V solar panels quickly exceed this limitation, its input capped and slower to re-charge. Whereas the Kalahari 400 input is not capped, ensuring a faster re-charge.
- Hi-Volt means Vmp of 36.5V rated at 400W. Means an improved battery charge for campers with a suitable MPPT charge controller. The MPPT is stepping down the Kalahari 400 voltage to the camper’s battery voltage. This increased voltage differential improves the efficiency of the MPPT as compared to a conventional 12V panel. Higher voltage also reduces the voltage loss in cabling.
- Victron Smart MPPT’s are ideal to work with the Hi Volt panels. Unfortunately, Ctek, RedArc and others do not yet cater for.
- Hi-Volt means not suitable for PWM charge controllers.
- Shingled solar cells are connected in groups and configured in parallel, greatly reducing losses from partial shading (other panels typically have their cells wired in series, causing significant losses if part of the panel is shaded).
- Shingled solar cells reduce the spacing between the cells, no silver metal strips running across the panel, reducing the footprint of the panel. Smaller panel = less packing space.
- Supporting legs: collapsible supporting legs angle the solar panels at 45 degrees against the sun for improved solar harvesting, especially during winter months and low sun settings.
- Quality assurance: each solar panel has its own unique serial number making it traceable through the entire manufacturing and QC process.
